Etlingera elatior or Bunga Kantan in Malay

Etlingera elatior (also known as Torch Ginger, Ginger Flower, Red Ginger Lily, Torch Lily, Wild Ginger, Combrang, Bunga Siantan, Philippine Wax Flower, Xiang Bao Jiaing, Indonesian Tall Ginger, Boca de Dragón, Rose de Porcelaine, Porcelain Rose) is a species of herbaceous perennial plant^{[citation needed]}. Botanical synonyms include Nicolaia elatior,^[1] Phaeomeria magnifica,^[1] Nicolaia speciosa, Phaeomeria speciosa, Alpinia elatior, Alpinia magnifica.

The showy pink flowers are used in decorative arrangements while the flower buds are an important ingredient in the Nonya dish laksa. In North Sumatra, the flower buds are used for a dish called arsik ikan mas (Andaliman/Szechuan pepper Spiced Carp). It is high in antioxidant, very good for our health.

It is known in Indonesian as bunga kecombrang or honje, Malay as bunga kantan and Thai as kaalaa.

JOSKS trip to SEV 31st July to 1st Aug 2010

31st July 2010, a group of friends from JOSKS had a 2days1night adventure with Sumbiling Eco Village or in short ecovillage. They do the brand new flying fox of OBBD, arriving to ecovillage by River tubing, trek into pristine Rainforest lead by veteran ex forest Ranger. After dinner Night walk, visit Longhouse at night, back to ecovillage BBQ till midnight. slept in tent & basic room. what wonderful day!

1st Aug- Enjoy a hearty Breakfast and embark on a native motorized longboat called Temuai going upriver, shooting the Rapid to Ulu Temburong National park. Walk 1000 steps uphill and climb up an canopy walkway to have a great view of the Temburong Vast rainforest Canopy! On the way back stop to visit a small but beautiful water fall to chill out! not only that, put your feet into the water, you got yourself a free fish spa. finish off with more tubing along the Temburong River. at Eco village, juicy bamboo chicken and wild vegetable dish waiting for them. After lunch time to pack up and say good bye to orang kampong ecovillage. Loook forward to jungle camp for future trip. by leslie enjoy the following picture during their stay at ecovillage
